I woke up this morning with plans to hit the river with friends for a day of running whitewater and floating in the sun. The weather had different plans for me today.

Following a winter whose snow was anything but impressive, we’re ecstatic to have all this rain. Out of the last 12 days, it has rained on at least 10 of them. The high mountain peaks are still receiving wet, slushy snow.

So, while the weather report said it would be 70 degrees and partly cloudy it’s obvious that mother nature knows best. The more rainfall we get this spring will delay the inevitable forest fires - perhaps for an entire summer.

With that thought, I give you a photo of the Gallatin Range that surrounds Big Sky and a current image of Lone Peak.

While Lone Peak still holds a good amount of snow, it will quickly melt off when temperatures warm up.

Welcome!

Welcome to Big Sky Information.com, a guide to Big Sky, Montana by a 25 year local to the area. I began this blog as a work of love to tell visitors, tourists and locals about the area, activities and “hot spots” I’ve grown to love and know well.

Throughout the life of this blog we will cover a few of the general facts and history of the Gallatin Valley. We’ll also feature interviews with local personalities who make living in the Big Sky state so great. The site will delve into locales that you otherwise may not get to experience. All along the way we’ll include tips, tricks, photographs, maps and other information that will make your trip unforgettable.

We welcome your questions, comments and feedback.
